 St. Antony's Pray for US

      St. Antony’s Church  Paduva belongs to the Syro-Malabar Rite in the diocese of Palai. Paduva  comes under the district of Kottayam in Kerala in India. This parish was established by  Mar Thomas Kurialassery, bishop of Changanassery  in 1921. The foundation stone was laid on 21st february1921 by  Rev. Fr Mathew  Koorkamatom , the first vicar, who built the first church within two years. The present  church, built by  Rev Fr  Kuriakose Chumappunkal within three years, was blessed on 24th December 1949.

 

History behind the name  Paduva 

 

    This area was known as Mattakara  North. When Mar  Thomas Kurialassery , bishop of Changanassery, gave permission to establish this parish, he suggested that this new parish may take the name of St.Antony of Paduva. Parishioners were happy to accept the suggestion. Thus new parish was named St Antony’s church  Paduva. Later this area was known as Paduva.

     265 families of the parish is divided into twelve family units. On week days Holy Mass is at 6.30 am and on Sundays at 7.am and 10.am. Novena prayer to St.Antony  is on Tuesdays and Saturdays at 6.30 am. Franciscan Clarist Convent do their service to parish. Institutions managed by the parish are St Antony’s English Medium Nursery school, L.P School, U.P School and Computer Center.

 

Parish Hall

  

   A parish hall with 750 seating is designed by architect Tom Associates Pala. The estimate of hall is rupees 65 lakhs. The construction is started. The construction works are managed by Aruldas, Alphonsa constructions Pala. Donations are invited from well wishers. Donations are to be sent in the name of Fr.
